CYCLING HOLIDAYS IN THE VALSUGANA

CYCLING HOLIDAYS IN THE VALSUGANA BIO HOTEL ELITE VALSUGANA
IF YOU LOVE CYCLING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING, A HOLIDAY IN VALSUGANA IS A DREAM COME TRUE.

With a vast network of routes of all levels of difficulty the area is perfect for beginners and experts alike – everyone can find a tour to suit their abilities. Whether you decide on a tour around Lake Levico or Lake Caldonazzo or opt for a more challenging mountain ride on Cima d'Asta, you can be sure of exceptional views.

On a mountain bike holiday in Valsugana you can admire the majestic peaks of the Lagorai mountains as well as the legendary Dolomites - or tackle an ascent! If you want to take on the mountains, the various terrains in the Valsugana demand persistence and commitment and can be quite a challenge.

From March to November Lake Levico  and the Valsugana enjoy mild weather making the area very favourable to cycling and mountain biking, which are also very popular with the locals.

There are also lots of other activities you can do when on a cycling holiday in Valsugana. In summer, for example, there’s no better way to get to Lake Levico or Lake Caldonazzo for a lovely swim than to cycle, and if you’re a keen mountain biker, we recommend riding up to one of the many mountain refuges where you can enjoy some delicious Trentino specialties.

The NatureBio Hotel Elite has some bicycles for guests, located in a reserved bicycle garage – there’s nothing better than a lovely ride with friends or family along the lake shore or a day out exploring the Valsugana countryside.

Some Electric Bicycles Available for our guests.

THE VALSUGANA CYCLE PATH

The Valsugana Cycle Path connects the Caldonazzo Lake with Bassano del Grappa: a true paradise for all bike lovers. It is 80 km long, with intermingling cultural aspects, history and natural landscape which mark the border between Trentino and Veneto. The Brenta river is a bridge uniting these two regions, a cultural path which resembles the great European Paths.
The Brenta river flows through the Valsugana, which springs from the Caldonazzo and Levico lakes and it flows into the lagoon of Venice, after flowing for 175 km.

MANY MOUNTAIN BIKE ROUTES IN VALSUGANA

Of the many cycle routes through the Valsugana, we suggest these two, one easy and one a little more demanding:

  1. CYCLING HOLIDAYS IN VALSUGANA: TOUR OF THE LITTLE LAKES IN THE PERGINE AREA
    START: PERGINE VALSUGANA
    LENGTH: 7 Km
    VERTICAL HEIGHT GAIN: 135 m
    MAX HEIGHT: 625 m
    DURATION: 1½ hours
    DIFFICULTY: easy
From Pergine Valsugana follow the signs for the Altopiano di Pinè (SP66 road). After crossing over the Fersina Torrent, turn right in the direction of Brazzanighe and after a few metres take the lane on the left, which takes you alongside Lake Costa. Continue straight ahead and after passing a few houses turn right and cross over a little bridge to join the main road. Continue along this road and on the left you’ll see Lake Canzolino. At the Miralago Hotel turn left following the signs for the little lakes path (passeggiata dei piccoli laghi) until you get to the main road where you take the level footpath leading to Lake Madrano. The path continues on a dirt road. At the lake keep following the signs for the little lakes path until you come to an asphalt road which takes you through the woods, past a few houses (Massenza) and then to a junction where you turn left. Take the Via dei Gregiati and the route continues first on asphalt then on a dirt track, passing through vineyards then continuing on a grassy track. Keep going until you get to the sports ground where you’ll be back on asphalt. At a fork in the road take the little lakes path to the left. Turn right at the cross. Keep going until you get to the village  (you’ll see the school on the right) and after passing a few houses follow the signs for Casalino. Turn right towards the Lake Pudro nature reserve (Biotopo del Lago Pudro). The route continues to its end on a dirt road. At the junction turn right for Pergine town centre.
  2. CYCLING HOLIDAYS IN VALSUGANA: LAKE LEVICO - COLLE DI  TENNA
START: LEVICO TERME (La Taverna restaurant on the lake)
    LENGTH: 20.8 km
    Vertical height gain: 270 m
    MAX HEIGHT: 590 m
    DURATION: 1¾ - 2 hours
    DIFFICULTY: Medium
From the lakeside restaurant La Taverna take the dirt road – the Strada dei Pescatori - that runs alongside Lake Levico. This level, scenic road follows the lakeshore shaded by trees along its entire length. At the end, walk a few metres uphill to the level dirt road that leads to the hamlet of Visintainer. Go through the village, continue on asphalt and just before a little bridge with iron railings you’ll come to a turning to the left (signposted Lungolago - Alberé). The path continues on a grassy, stony track and goes into the lakeside woods. Keeping to the left, follow the signs for the Lungolago (not Alberé) alongside the torrent; the path becomes a dirt track with some ups and downs. Keep to the lake until you get to the main road after the hairpin bend. An alternative route begins at the 5.6 km mark on the road: take the right-hand turn (no signpost) and you will immediately notice that the path rises gently in the shade of the woods, ending at a barrier, before entering the orchards of Tenna. Bear left first on a dirt road and then on asphalt for a short stretch to the edge of the village. From the centre of Tenna take Via Campolongo in the direction of Ischia. Go down the main road to the right and after a short stretch, before the village, head towards the sports ground (signposted Campo Sportivo) and turn right to get to the bridge which leads to the hamlet of Visintainer. At this point, an alternative route to avoid a rather demanding uphill section is to turn left and go alongside the sports ground to the Pergine to Levico main road. When you are at a point overlooking Visintainer, turn left onto a dirt track. Follow this easy, shaded road for a few kilometres until you get to Maso Lazzaretti (farmhouse) (16.4 km). Here you’ll find signs for the Forte delle Brenelle to the left, an interesting fortress historically and a handy point for tourists with its several rest areas. Continue to the main dirt road, which takes you to Maso Lazzaretti and over the Colle delle Benne hills. Go down the dirt road then by the tennis courts (you are now a few minutes from Levico Terme town centre) you’ll come to the junction for San Biagio. If you feel like it, an uphill ride of about 400 metres will take you to the old church of Saint Biagio. Return by the same route.
